4 Popular Brands in English (how to say them)

At some point in your English learning journey, you realize that most brands are NOT pronounced the way you say them in your native language. So, saying them in English might feel weird, strange or even wrong! Don’t worry, this is normal :) However, as you get closer to the English language, as it becomes a bigger part of your everyday life, as your fluency improves… these “strange” pronunciations will feel easy, good, and right! Remember, it’s a journey :) Anyhow, what brand sounds strange when you say it in English?? Tell us in the comments! ☺️ Here are some more you can try: 1. Mercedes 👉🏼 mer-say-deez 2. Do you code switch?

Do you code switch?

This was such a fascinating conversation! Here, Rene from @WELCOMETOMYCURLS and I discuss how she adapts her Southern accent to different environments. This is called code switching. Code-switching is a natural thing that happens when people switch between languages or ways of talking. It's common in places where there's a mix of languages and cultures. Essentially, it helps people communicate effectively in different situations. Code switching explains why we talk one way with our friends and family, and a different way at work. It also happens when we mix and blend different languages throughout our day, depending on who we are speaking to. I find the study of code switching to be absolutely fascinating. Sometimes we code switch to make ourselves more understood. Sometimes we do it to fit in. And sometimes we do it to connect on a deeper level. Changing your accent, vocabulary, speaking mannerisms, and even your behavior all play a part in code switching. Think about when, where, why, and with whom you shift how you speak. Then, tell us about it in the comments! When and why do you code switch? _____________________ Ready to improve your English? It's OK to SLOW DOWN when you speak

It's OK to SLOW DOWN when you speak

If you want to sound more fluent, use words and phrases to fill time and space in your speech! For example, if someone asks you a question, you don’t have to automatically give an answer (especially if you don’t even know what you think yet!). Instead, take your time. Talk out loud, like this— “Interesting question… I hadn’t thought about that before… hmmm…” This is all part of normal, natural communication — and I do it, too! Doing this will allow you to slow down, take time to THINK, and feel more present in the conversation. Try it out and let me know how it goes. 🎉 ✨✨✨ Ready to practice even more with me? ✨✨✨ I have so many resources for you! 🥳 1. Get fluent now in 2024. Here's how.

Get fluent now in 2024. Here's how.

Hey friends! I recorded this video the other day on my phone, and decided to share it here with you. I know it's not really set up like a normal YouTube video (it's vertical! lol)... but I hope you don't mind. I think the message is really important, especially if you are STILL struggling to get fluent in English. So I wanted to share it anyway. Sometimes trying to make videos "perfect" for YouTube really slows me down, gets in the way of me showing up authentically, and stops me from teaching all the wonderful things I want to share with you (often for several months at a time). This is something I've been struggling with for years (have you noticed? haha)... and it's something I'm determined to overcome now in 2024. So, here I am with a basic video I recorded on my phone. No fancy editing. No studio quality audio. Just me in my home office with my cell phone and a super important message... just like my very first YouTube videos which were also recorded on my phone :D Maybe it's time we ALL relax our expectations a little bit. Your English doesn't have to be perfect and neither do my videos 😆 what do you think?? I think there is something so magical and freeing about CHOOSING to embrace imperfections. Sometimes, the most important thing is MOMENTUM. When we can start and keep going, we can improve along the way. But when we stop or give up... we sabotage our own success. I'm starting 2024 with a whole new mindset, on a personal and professional level... and it's already giving me amazing results!! And, even if you haven't seen me around YouTube very much, I've always still been in the background, working on my programs, and helping my students in every way that I can. And now we are kicking off the year strong with our Fluency Breakthrough Challenge! I designed this challenge to unlock your fluency in 30 days or LESS with one simple task a day. The program is super affordable, flexible, and --most importantly-- it WORKS! Enrollment is open now, but only for a few more days. If you are ready to get YOUR Fluency Breakthrough, go here now to get all the details and register: Link 👉🏼 https://englishfulltime.com/fluency-breakthrough-challenge The challenge starts on the 17th! Immersion will make you fluent.

Immersion will make you fluent.

If you want to take advantage of your brain's natural ability to absorb language patterns, then immerse yourself in English as often as possible, even if you don't feel "ready." This will help you learn grammar, intonation, common word combinations, and MORE without ever opening a textbook. Immersion means surrounding yourself with the language and USING it with other people as much as possible. This will give your brain the context and environment it needs to pick up and process the patterns it encounters. So tell me... what are YOU doing to immerse yourself in English?
